Topic:	Design and Deployment of 802.11 Wireless LANs with Centralized Controllers
	Modern wireless LAN (WLAN) networks require centralized intelligence and control to support advanced security, mobility, location-based services, and voice over WLAN (VoWLAN). These architectures use a system device called a WLAN controller to create and enforce policies across many different access points. By centralizing intelligence within these devices, security, mobility, QoS, dynamic RF management, and other essential WLAN functions can be efficiently managed across a wireless enterprise. The centralized intelligence of a WLAN controller simplifies management, improves performance, and increases security of large wireless networks. This session treats Cisco centralized WLAN controller systems in detail, covering the architecture and theory of operations down to the packet trace level. Special attention is given to the innovative IETF draft protocol called Light Weight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP). This presentation was originally presented at Networkers 2007 by Sujit Ghosh, Technical Marketing Engineer, Cisco Systems, and is used with his permission.

Your momma won’t be able to take your exams for you anymore! Effective December 4, 2007, Cisco is requiring test centers to collect digital photos and digital signatures during the Pearson VUE admissions process, in addition to the current candidate identification requirements. This process will be effective immediately for all new test centers joining the Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center network. Pearson VUE will be implementing this change over the next year, and centers that are currently delivering Cisco exams will be provided with instructions on how to comply with the new admissions requirements. Another man pleads guilty to defrauding Cisco SMARTnet

Reprinted from Network World - Tue, 01/15/2008 - 8:20pm.

A Minnesota man last week pleaded guilty to defrauding Cisco of more than $400,000 worth of networking gear, according to a DOJ news release. From January 2001 to August 2002, Charles Levi Lytle - who worked as a sales rep for Edina, Minn., Interlink Communications - and others at Interlink conspired to submit fraudulent Cisco SMARTnet claims to Cisco to receive "replacement" networking parts. The defendants and others then sold these “replacement” parts to customers and deposited the payments to Interlink’s bank account, according to the DOJ.

Lytle's sentencing is scheduled for April 9.

The case follows news of another scheme to defraud Cisco late last year when two brothers in Richmond, Texas were charged with conspiracy and trafficking in counterfeit Cisco goods.
