Topic: |
Enterprise IP Multicast Design
and Troubleshooting - IP Multicast is
fundamentally changing the way we live, work, play,
and learn by providing innovative solutions that are
simple, highly available, virtualized, open, and
safe. As organizations look for cost-effective,
bandwidth-conserving technologies for media-rich and
simultaneous-user applications, IP Multicast has
gained serious attention. Understanding IP multicast
design and how to troubleshoot the control-plane
permits network engineers to effectively plan and
support multicast applications in concert with the
rest of their business-critical infrastructure.

Switching rivals take aim at Cisco with new
gear, strategies
Four of Cisco's switching rivals announced new
and enhanced equipment, and 3Com announced a
renewed strategy to again address the large
enterprise market globally, in attempts to undo
the company's dominance during the recession.
Brocade, Force10, Extreme and 3Com all say the
current economic doldrums give them an
opportunity while customers are sizing up
budgets and considering ways to reduce cost.

My questions to you are: 1) How many people
do you know that were fired for buying
Cisco? and 2) Is it worth the risk to save a
few bucks?
An effective attack could disrupt or disable
elements such as public utilities, including
power, water and gas. Ground and air traffic
control systems are also potential targets.
These critical elements warrant no less
protection than defense, finance and healthcare.
There is a proliferation of data breaches from
all sectors of the cyber infrastructure. Left
alone, this situation will only get worse.
In the first of this two-part series, Bill
Garamella raised the issue of the “Cybersecurity
Act of 2009” consisting of S.773 and S.778.
Everything that follows is entirely Bill’s work
with minor edits. Reprinted from
